Cine - prefix, meaning motion picture.
Maven - an expert in a specific field, who enthusiastically shares his or her knowledge with others, in the hopes of enriching their lives.
The Maven concept comes from Malcolm Gladwell's communication theory book The Tipping Point.

Welcome to one cinemaphile's film ramblings, created to assist the film savvy (and not-so-film savvy) muddle through the best, worst and gems of the industry. I'll be doing mini-reviews (and the ocassional full-fledged piece) on the films that I see, some before they are released, some during mainstream release and some smaller, notable films that are available on DVD.
Please feel free to friend me, and I love comments, so speak up with you agree or disagree with something I say. Mind you, I am a fan of debate, so we may or may not get into a friendly dicussion if our opinions vary :D If I've missed a film you think is just fab, recommend it! I stumble upon some of the best films through recommendation.
Who am I? I am a journalism student with a predeliction for all things film. With one year of university to go, I will spend my Senior year as the Film Editor of The Daily Free Press's arts and entertainment section, The Muse. In addition to my film work at school, I'm spending summer 2005 at Variety in New York City, assisting in the Ad Sales department and staffing their summer screening series.
I see 4 - 5 films a week when school is in session, and 7 - 8 films a week during vacation periods (or less if I'm catching up on a television program). I have a specific interest in historical dramas, foreign films (especially German and French), art house/indie/concept films, documentaries, thrillers, smart comedies and literary adaptations. I feed my voracious film appetite through several channels, including press screenings (when school is in session), Netflix, and regular (paying!) cinema visits.
